Description

As an Electro-Mechanical Technician, you will join a dynamic R&D Engineering team focused on designing, prototyping, and deploying cutting-edge electro-mechanical systems in the EW (Electromagnetic Warfare) domain.

You will be a hands-on enabler of both prototype and production hardware related to electronic warfare systems. You will support multiple projects by handling assembly, rework, test setup, maintenance, and field readiness activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assembling, installing, and troubleshooting mechanical and electro-mechanical prototypes and systems
  • Performing mechanical rework and modifications, including drilling, tapping, cutting, and assembling metal, plastic, and composite components
  • Supporting integration of mechanical and electrical subsystems, including installation of motors, sensors, wiring harnesses, and control systems
  • Executing test procedures for mechanical assemblies, including setup of instrumentation (force gauges, torque meters, vibration systems, etc.), data collection, and report generation
  • Troubleshooting mechanical and electro-mechanical systems to identify and resolve issues such as alignment, fitment, or wear-related failures
  • Fabricating mechanical fixtures, brackets, adapters, and custom parts using hand tools, power tools, or manual machining techniques to support engineering workflows
  • Conducting incoming inspection of mechanical components, assemblies, and fasteners for quality, workmanship, and compliance with specifications
  • Building, testing, and verifying cable assemblies and wiring harnesses for mechanical systems, ensuring proper termination, routing, and labeling
  • Maintaining lab organization, including safety practices for mechanical tools, equipment calibration, inventory control, and workspace cleanliness
  • Supporting system bring-up, validation, and durability testing for mechanical assemblies during development, production, or field deployment
  • Documenting build processes, test results, rework procedures, and lessons learned to improve quality, repeatability, and traceability
  • Assisting with packaging, assembly, and preparation of field kits for system deployment and readiness
  • Collaborating with engineering teams to meet program goals, ensuring mechanical systems are completed on schedule and to specification

Required qualifications include:

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, prototyping, and troubleshooting, including work with precision parts, fasteners, machinery, and material handling
  • Proficiency with basic mechanical tools (calipers, torque wrenches, hand drills, etc.) and techniques (drilling, tapping, bending, cutting, alignments)
  • Familiarity with electro-mechanical systems, including integration of motors, actuators, and sensors; experience with wiring harness routes and mechanical mounts
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and repair mechanical issues, including misalignments, wear and tear, and component failures
  • Understanding of safety protocols, such as OSHA requirements, clean workspace standards, and proper handling of mechanical tools and hardware
  • Exceptional attention to detail for quality checks on parts, assemblies, fasteners, and wiring to ensure precision and reliability
  • Familiarity with reading mechanical drawings, assembly diagrams, and technical documentation; ability to follow detailed assembly work instructions
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic R&D environment, adapting to evolving designs, timelines, and requirements

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Prior experience in the EW (Electromagnetic Warfare) or defense sector, or work involving ruggedized or harsh-environment applications
  • Experience with field deployment of hardware; knowledge of what makes systems reliable in real operational use
  • Basic machining, metal/fabrication skills, or ability to operate manual machine tools
  • Experience with inventory/tracking tools, lab management software, version control for hardware documentation
  • Knowledge of safety standards and maintainable design practices for reliability, thermal management, vibration/shock, etc.

US Hourly Range $86,000-$114,000 USD
