Electrical Field Services Engineer – Alabama

We are seeking an Electrical Field Services Engineer to join our Technical Shared Services (TSS) - Electrical Systems & Field Support team at Plant Barry in Bucks, Alabama.

The successful candidate will provide technical services in the electrical discipline to fossil, gas, and renewable generating facilities within the Southern Company. This will include problem resolution, routine testing, design review, checkout and startup of new equipment, technical consulting, and unplanned/emergency callouts.

• Maintain technical proficiency in electrical systems
• Cultivate and maintain contacts within the plant
• Establish a precedent for solving technical problems in a timely and cost-effective manner
• Be a role model for other engineers
• Maintain awareness of the financial impact of Technical Services' support
• Take an active role in the development of new employees

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• Customer-oriented work ethic
• Broad general knowledge of power plant systems
• Proficiency in excitation system calibration and problem resolution
• Proficiency in low, medium, and high voltage switchgear concepts and designs
• Proficiency in switchgear electrical control and applications
• Working knowledge of protective relaying application and philosophy
• Ability to communicate with plant employees at all levels
• Ability to manage time properly and handle multiple assignments simultaneously
