Description
Diageo is seeking a Technical Accounting Specialist to act as the main contact within the Chief Accountant team for the resolution of complex accounting issues within the wider finance community.
The successful candidate will support the Head of Technical Accounting in resolving complex accounting issues and implementing new accounting standards. They will also provide support to the Financial Reporting team in preparing and reviewing the Group's Annual report and Red book, Press release, and various other statutory filings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing accounting papers to support Diageo's accounting treatment in complex accounting issues
- Reviewing and preparing Group annual report, Press release, 20-F, and 6-K with a focus on compliance with IFRS and other external reporting obligations
- Coordinating the activities of the Financial Reporting team, including monitoring the accuracy of reporting received from the business and communicating errors and improvement opportunities
- Providing regional support for group accounting questions, including monitoring compliance with existing group accounting policies and updating them for new accounting standards and interpretations
- Engaging with markets to ensure they are fully compliant and providing support for market issues and initiatives
- Liaising with group auditors for interim, annual, and Sox audits
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance or Accounting
- Professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) an advantage
- 10+ years of strong financial accounting experience, including significant experience in IFRS reporting
- Proven experience in preparing statutory accounts in accordance with IFRS and relevant accounting standards
- Experience working in a multinational finance environment across different commercial and cultural markets
