Application Developer I (Integrations)

The Application Developer I (Integrations) role within Gas Technology Delivery at Southern Company involves designing and developing custom applications to support integrations used by Southern Company Gas. You will work on building and supporting COTS applications, completing projects that include standard development using various languages, web-based technologies, cognitive services, integration technologies, and native mobile applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in identifying potential solutions that leverage COTS systems rather than customization.
• Participate in creating Technical Design documents with direction.
• Collaborate with Senior Programmers to plan coding and overall program development.
• Translate specifications into code that meets performance expectations and coding requirements.
• Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or upgrade interfaces and improve performance based on specifications.
• Troubleshoot, debug, maintain, and improve existing software with supervision.
• Participate in system testing as required.
• Develop solutions and system documentation for routine technical problems of smaller scope.
• Participate in deployment activities to implement designed solutions.
• Maintain production support processes focused on identifying and mitigating root causes.
• Prioritize work and deliver on project commitments.
• Provide on-call support for routine problems and incidents.

Requirements:

• Associate's degree or vocational training.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and programming principles.
• Familiarity with various programming languages such as BizTalk, .NET, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, C/C#/C++, JSON, HTML, CSS, Perl, Scala, SQL.
• Experience with frameworks like Xamarin, .NET Core/.NET Framework, Apigee, Windows Communication Framework, Web API, Entity Framework, jQuery, Angular, Telerik Kendo Framework, MVC, ASP.NET, WinForms.
• Knowledge of technologies and applications such as IBM MQSeries, IBM WebSphere.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
