Description
The London Borough of Waltham Forest is seeking a Mortuary Support Personnel to contribute to the logistics processes within the borough and the wider London area.
The post-holder will normally be based at the Mortuary Office but will be dispatched to collect, deliver and transfer deceased persons between East London Forensic Centre, Essex mortuary facilities and other authorised locations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out transfers or collections of the deceased from relevant mortuaries, hospitals or funeral directors as per coroner's instructions
- Conducting condition checks of the deceased in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Undertaking driving, deceased-person transfer, manual handling, traceability and associated mortuary support duties
- Assisting mortuary managers and the wider mortuary team with the effective operation of the service
Requirements:
- Full, valid UK driving licence and experience of driving vans
- Experience or understanding of mortuary, funeral director, pathology, healthcare logistics or related work
- Understanding of deceased-person identification, dignity, confidentiality, traceability and chain-of-custody requirements
- Experience or understanding of manual handling and the safe use of transfer equipment
- Ability to follow SOPs, risk assessments, lawful instructions and infection prevention requirements
The salary for this role is £31,290 - £33,129 per year.
