Description
We are seeking an Emergency Response Manager, APAC to join Airbnb.org, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit that focuses on emergency response and provides temporary housing for people in times of crisis.
As an Emergency Response Manager, you will manage Airbnb.org's emergency responses in the APAC region and support responses globally as required. You will monitor disasters, decide when to activate responses, and manage them through to close-out, working with partners on the ground to provide housing and support to those affected.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitor global disasters and recommend responses based on Airbnb.org criteria
- Establish, activate, and oversee emergency housing responses in collaboration with on-the-ground partners
- Oversee diverse, simultaneous disaster responses, setting priorities and tracking status, spend, and people housed
- Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders and partners
- Manage partnerships, including onboarding new partners and managing existing ones
- Deploy to disaster zones on short notice to manage ground operations
- Write after-action reviews and implement changes
Requirements:
- Minimum 8-16 years of experience in emergency and disaster response operations, with a focus on managing large-scale programs
- Direct experience activating and running disaster responses end-to-end
- Strong track record of building and maintaining partnerships with nonprofits, government agencies, and key stakeholders
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence across functions and teams
- Adaptability and ability to make sound decisions at speed in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
- Willingness to travel on short notice for up to 30-50% of the year
