As a Senior Director in Capital One’s Card Risk team, you will apply your leadership and analytical skills to our highest profile Risk Management efforts.
You will act as a thought leader working across the business to develop and implement cutting-edge Risk solutions to ensure Capital One’s continued success.
Senior Directors in Capital One’s Card Risk organization partner with Executives, Line of Business, Compliance and Legal associates to develop and implement well-managed risk practices in an open, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize data management metrics and insights to influence senior business leaders in a compelling, action-oriented manner
- Apply understanding of data governance processes and controls to proactively mitigate risks
- Provide strategic program leadership and drive program alignment in a matrixed, highly complex regulated environment
- Spearhead large-scale Risk Management Program Management/Governance
- Design, develop, and manage risk management-focused project plans in a complex dynamic environment, revising needs to meet changing requirements
- Ensure projects are being delivered on time and on budget within a challenging environment while simultaneously managing risk
- Communicate program requirements across the organization, to both internal and external stakeholders as needed
- Partner cross-functionally with project customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery
- Report out on program status, risks, issues and decisions to a wide variety of constituents across the company; flags critical risks and/or concerns to Risk Management and Business Leadership
- Lead critical assessments on risk categories to mitigate risk to the company
- Build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments
- Consult strategically with Accountable Executives and partner teams
- Problem-solve with cross-functional teams and partners on an array of issues and opportunities
- Design and drive a transformation vision for your organization
- Identify opportunities for continued improvement in the business
- Partner proactively with partners’ teams, internal business teams, other risk office groups to help document and improve policies, processes, controls, and procedures
- Assist the business in management of audits and regulatory exams

They are experienced in operating in a highly dynamic environment and can balance the needs of multiple stakeholder groups.
They have the ability to work with executives to create innovative solutions, and can think strategically, while executing on operational requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or military experience
- At least 8 years of experience in Risk Management, Project Management, Operations, Compliance, or Process Management
- At least 8 years of people leadership experience
- At least 7 years of experience supporting, partnering or interacting with internal business clients
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or Juris Doctor
- 10+ years of experience in Risk Management, Project Management, Operations, Compliance, or Process Management
- 10+ years of people management experience
- 5+ years of project management experience leading cross-functional programs in risk
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
