Description
We are seeking a Technical Specialist Practitioner to join our team at Barclays. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems.
Responsibilities:
- Build Engineering: Develop, deliver, and maintain high-quality infrastructure solutions to meet business requirements, ensuring reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use.
- Incident Management: Monitor IT infrastructure and system performance to identify and resolve potential issues, vulnerabilities, or outages.
- Automation: Develop and implement automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Security: Implement secure configurations and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber-attacks, vulnerabilities, and other security threats.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define IT infrastructure requirements, devise solutions, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Learning: Stay informed about industry technology trends and innovations, and contribute to the organisation's technology communities.
Requirements:
- Fundamental understanding of z/OS.
- Previous z/OS hardware installation, configuration, cabling & design experience.
- Good understanding of mainframe operating system tools: TSO, JCL & Utilities, plus HMA, SANNAV and MVS commands etc.
- CPU, Channel, FICON configurations/installations.
- Connect & Switch - SAN Knowledge and configuration of Broadcom switches (port set up: Blocking/Un-Blocking, zoning etc).
- Previous IODF experience (HCD).
Desirable skills:
- z/OS Technical Expertise.
- A good knowledge of MVS either from an operations or Support background.
- Experience in data centre installations, HMA operation, HCD (IODF’s), SANNAV, PPRC-XD, FICON cabling infrastructures, floorspace management, change management tools (ServiceFirst), cross-vendor DASD & Tape configurations/installations, PPRC connectivity, CPU, Channel & FICON configurations/installations, Connect & Switch SAN Knowledge (Brodcom X6/X7 switches etc), Server Time Protocol (STP), CTC Configurations.
- Previous experience in hardware installations, decommissions and Service moves.
- Knowledge of Teradata platforms.
