Description
WSP is seeking a Part Time System Operator I Trainee for its Long Island City, NY office.
As a System Operator I Trainee, you will be involved in projects with the Mobility Operations Team, managing incidents on roadways, and improving traffic conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate computer-based traffic and freeway management systems
- Monitor roadways via CCTV surveillance cameras and detection systems
- Perform routine daily checklists of all ITS devices and control room equipment
- Troubleshoot system failures and maintain equipment ticket databases
- Post traveler information messages and check their accuracy on Variable Message Signs (VMS)
- Enter incident information into Traveler Information Systems (TIS) using the Incident Management Portal (IMP)
- Coordinate with Joint Transportation Management Center (JTMC) partners and adjacent NYSDOT Region TMCs
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct
Requirements:
- High school Diploma or equivalent
- 0-2 Years of experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle phone calls efficiently
- Familiarity with MS Office applications, spreadsheets, and databases
- Ability to type at a minimum speed of 35 words per minute
- Ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- All candidates must successfully pass a New York State Police (NYSP) Criminal History Background Check

Compensation:
- Expected Salary: $33,200 - $54,780
