High Voltage Substation Inspector

WSP is seeking a High Voltage Substation Inspector for their Power Constructors, Inc. (PCI) sector in Portland, Oregon. This role involves inspecting high voltage substations and transmission lines, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Perform field inspections on construction projects of moderate scale and complexity
• Examine and evaluate the placement of concrete, installation of underground pipelines, earthwork, and electrical installations
• Generate accurate documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project
• Ensure responsibilities are delivered with a level of quality that meets or exceeds industry standards
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, attend pre-construction meetings, and provide technical assistance
• Write technical reports summarizing inspection findings and conclusions
• Assist with calculating payments due to contractors and risk identification and assessment

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 9 years of relevant post-education experience in a related discipline with prior construction inspection experience
• Computer skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel
• Essential professional licensure/certification(s)
• Valid state driver's license
• Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) background check
• Knowledge of construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, and relevant codes and regulations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physical demands include working in extreme weather conditions, lifting 50 lbs, and walking on rough terrain

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a closely related discipline
• Knowledge of transmission line work, foundations, and stringing of conductors

Travel requirements: Up to 100% travel may be required.
