Description
GDIT is seeking a Deputy Chief Architect to provide daily systems integration leadership under the direction of the Chief Architect and serve as a delegated technical authority when needed. This role translates enterprise-level direction into practical, implementable outcomes.
The position is heavily focused on integration, ensuring cohesion between domain-specific designs, program requirements, security controls, test results, and operational acceptance; effectively closing gaps between design, implementation, and production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the integrated architecture baseline, interface catalog, dependency map, assumptions/constraints register, and architecture action log.
- Translate Chief Architect direction into coordinated domain work packages, interface-control documents, integration sequencing, and acceptance criteria.
- Lead cross-domain design workshops, technical interchange meetings, integration engineering reviews, and production-readiness preparation.
- Verify traceability from approved requirements through architecture, detailed design, build configuration, test evidence, operational documentation, and deployment decision.
- Identify interface conflicts, circular dependencies, boundary ambiguities, and sequencing risks; drive owners to closure before they become production issues.
- Coordinate with Security on control inheritance, boundary changes, data flows, authorization impacts, and evidence requirements.
- Coordinate with Service Operations on supportability, monitoring, logging, backup/recovery, capacity, incident response, and operational acceptance.
- Coordinate with requirements analysts on requirement quality, acceptance criteria, change control, stakeholder decisions, and evidence of user/mission value.
- Maintain architecture decision records and ensure exceptions have documented risk acceptance, expiration, remediation, and accountable owners.
- Serve as acting Chief Architect within delegated limits and provide concise technical status and risk briefings to program and Government leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related STEM discipline, or approved equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of systems engineering, solution architecture, integration architecture, or enterprise IT engineering experience in complex environments.
- 5+ years leading multi-team integration, interface management, technical governance, or large solution delivery.
- Demonstrated experience integrating cloud, identity, network, security, applications, data, observability, automation, and operations across organizational boundaries.
- Strong command of requirements decomposition, interface control, dependency management, verification planning, configuration baselines, and production-readiness criteria.
- Experience with architecture review boards, engineering review boards, change control, risk management, and documented technical decision processes.
- Working knowledge of RMF, security control implementation, trust boundaries, data flows, classified enclave constraints, and ATO-impact analysis.
- Ability to lead through influence, challenge incomplete designs, reconcile competing domain priorities, and drive documented closure.
- Strong written communication and the ability to produce concise, reviewable architecture and integration artifacts.
Benefits
- Comprehensive benefits and wellness packages
- 401K with company match
- Competitive pay and paid time off
- Full flex work weeks where possible
- Paid parental, military, bereavement and jury duty leave
- Short and long-term disability benefits, life, accidental death and dismemberment, personal accident, critical illness and business travel and accident insurance
