Description
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Manager, Accounting Policy.
In this role you will assist in analysis and review of new business proposals for IFRS implications and compliance, including preparation of IFRS accounting opinions in line with existing or new Group accounting policies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing accounting advice on ad hoc accounting queries of varied complexity
- Formulating and recommending Group accounting policies, providing detailed practical guidance
- Offering technical support on the implementation of technical decisions, including through Subject Matter Expert (‘SME’) groups
- Identifying changes in external accounting, regulatory and legal requirements that will have an impact on the HSBC Group and providing support to IFRS change working groups on the implementation of new requirements
- Participating in industry forums and contributing to technical discussions regarding alternative solutions to accounting issues
To be successful you will need:
- Qualified Accountant, ACA or equivalent
- Relevant experience working in an accounting firm’s technical advisory team, or within an accounting policy/advisory function at a bank or financial services entity
- Knowledge and experience of applying IFRS accounting standards in practical business situations
- Strong problem solving skills
- Strong organisational skills including multi-tasking, prioritisation and ability to maintain equilibrium under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders (all levels of seniority, businesses, and geographies)
- Team player with positive service attitude
- Enthusiasm to learn about technical accounting
