Apply on Department of Health and Social Care

Description

In the Department of Health and Social Care, we are proud of our purpose – to enable everyone to live more independent, healthier lives for longer. To achieve this, and create a great place to work, we have four values: we are inclusive, we constantly improve, we challenge, and we are agile. If this sounds like an environment you would like to work in, we would love to hear from you.

The DHSC Digital Transformation team works with the national health and care system to realise the benefits of digital, data and technology, to deliver better end to end services for their users and for the professionals who provide them.

We don’t manage live digital services; our role is more strategic. We partner with policy and commissioning teams to deliver user centred, design-led change, and to act as a bridge between policy and digital delivery teams. We support the Department and its arms' length bodies in a range of different ways - from providing short-term consultancy advice and digital training, to running full discoveries and alphas, and embedding team members in wider beta or live delivery teams.

We champion standards, user-centred design and accessibility in everything that we do.

As a Digital Engagement Officer, you will support engagement between DHSC and external partners, helping to strengthen collaboration across the wider health and care system. You will work with colleagues across DHSC and partner organisations to coordinate engagement activities, support stakeholder relationships and help identify opportunities for organisations to share knowledge, capability and good practice.

Working closely with the Digital Business Partnering team, you will help improve visibility of digital, data and technology priorities, support collaborative initiatives and ensure stakeholders remain connected to the right forums, communities and sources of support. You will play an important role in helping the team gather insight, coordinate activity and maintain strong relationships across a diverse external stakeholder network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support engagement with stakeholders across DHSC and external partner organisations, helping to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Coordinate meetings, working groups, communities of practice and engagement activities, ensuring actions and outcomes are effectively tracked and communicated.
  • Assist with gathering, analysing and sharing information on digital, data and technology priorities, risks, opportunities and emerging themes across the Health Family.
  • Produce high-quality briefings, reports, presentations and communications to support stakeholder engagement and decision-making.
  • Support the implementation of recommendations and agreed actions arising from engagement activity, helping coordinate work across multiple organisations.
  • Maintain accurate records of stakeholder engagement, actions, risks and dependencies, ensuring information is accessible and up to date.

Key skills and experience required for the role

Essential

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with a range of audiences.
  • Experience working with stakeholders and building effective working relationships across teams or organisations.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities, manage competing priorities and maintain attention to detail.
  • Experience supporting projects, programmes, engagement activities or collaborative initiatives within a professional environment.
  • Understanding of what enables successful digital, data or technology delivery and an interest in digital transformation and improvement.

Desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of the public sector, ideally with experience within digital, technology, health or wider government settings.
  • Experience producing briefings, reports, presentations or communications for senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the health and care system and the role of technology, digital and data in supporting organisational priorities.
