Description
Purpose
As a Product Manager at Pfizer, you will turn investment committee decisions into a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that can be tested and validated. You will own the vision of what gets built, at what pace, and ensure that intended users adopt it during the MVP stages.
Key Accountabilities
- Set the vision for the build and write the target product profile, product requirements, and acceptance criteria for every initiative funded by the pillar.
- Work directly with scrum masters, product teams, and engineering teams to sequence and deliver approved work at pace.
- Collaborate closely with users and engineers to gather feedback, convert it into backlog decisions, and ensure the specification reflects the features that matter.
- Own product adoption during the MVP stage and ensure that any portfolio failure comes from a disproven hypothesis, not a preventable product weakness.
- Bring product, user, and technical evidence to stage gate discussions for transitioning an MVP into a product to scale.
- Provide build estimates for externally sourced opportunities, including internal cost, capacity, time, and principal delivery risks.
- Manage end-to-end programme and project management for each funded MVP, establishing integrated plans, milestones, dependencies, and decision points.
Decision Rights
- Own the product specification, acceptance criteria, and backlog prioritization within an approved initiative.
- Determine whether product and user evidence is sufficient to present at a stage gate.
Required Experience and Capabilities
- Proven experience in digital product management, product development, or a related field.
- Demonstrated end-to-end accountability for digital products from discovery to launch and adoption.
- Experience shipping digital products and writing/defending specifications.
- Credible with engineers, architects, commercial leaders, and users.
- Highly structured with rigorous control of scope, timeline, product quality, and decision records.
- Able to estimate build cost and effort for rent-versus-build comparisons.
- Experienced in influencing delivery teams and senior sponsors without owning engineering resources.
