Transmission Line Design – Engineer/Designer

We are seeking multiple Engineer and Designer positions within the TSS Transmission Line Design organisation. These roles are based in our Forest Park, GA office, located just outside of Atlanta.

Job Summaries:

We have multiple positions available:

• Line Design Engineer/Designer (Production)
• Line Contract Engineer
• Line Design Engineer/Designer (Project Support)
• Line Design Engineer/Designer (Special Projects)

Job Responsibilities:

• Become knowledgeable of transmission line design practices and work processes
• Support the development of design standards and criteria for use on the Southern Company transmission system
• Support project origination, project management, construction, and maintenance teams

Primary Responsibilities by Position:

• Line Design Engineer/Designer (Production): Design high voltage transmission lines using PLS-CADD, estimate and order material for transmission projects, support Transmission Line Construction
• Line Contract Engineer: Provide guidance, oversight, and technical assistance to external engineering firms, perform Quality Assurance reviews, and evaluate engineering firms' performance
• Line Design Engineer/Designer (Project Support): Scope Transmission Line Projects, develop conceptual design options, design high voltage transmission lines using PLS-CADD, prepare cost estimates
• Line Design Engineer/Designer (Special Projects): Support Project Managers with design projects, identify potential technical, environmental, or regulatory risks, participate in court proceedings and public information meetings

Job Qualifications:

• Education: BS degree or higher in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical), or equivalent experience
• Experience: Previous Transmission Line Design experience is preferred, as well as maintenance, construction, or project management experience in the utility industry
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of transmission line design, construction, and maintenance practices, technical aptitude to solve engineering problems, computer skills, interpersonal skills, time management skills, and written and verbal communication skills
