Description
As a Patent Administrator at 3M, you will play a crucial role in obtaining and maintaining patent records across various geographies.
You will work closely with the Global Legal Service Center (GLSC) and Office of Intellectual Property team to oversee and manage a large, business group-wide docket, ensuring critical deadlines are met and patent rights are maintained worldwide.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with GLSC team members to gather information and instructions for patent application filing and prosecution
- Independently obtaining data and composing detailed prosecution-related correspondence
- Analyzing incoming patent communications and determining required action and response
- Supporting the global patent team by coordinating multiple worldwide patent dockets and preparing reports
- Identifying and solving problems or discrepancies by interpreting data and researching government rules/guidelines
- Documenting solutions to difficult scenarios and proposing changes to existing documentation
- Using public databases to chart information about non-3M patents and publications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma/GED or higher
- Five years of experience in IP administration in a private, public, government, or military environment
- Strong analytical, communication, attention to detail, and project management skills
- Ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders
- Familiarity with patent laws of different geographies and IP management systems, preferably Anaqua

The expected compensation range for this position is $74,644 - $91,231 per year.
