Description
We are seeking a Senior Engineer – Full Stack to contribute to the Safe & Secure platform, which supports physical security and safety-related business processes across Target locations.
The platform is built on open-source technologies including Kotlin/Java, Spring Boot, and React, with a focus on backend services, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
As a Senior Engineer, you will design, develop, and support scalable full-stack applications and services, contribute to system design and architectural discussions, and build and maintain APIs, integrations, and event-driven services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing, and supporting scalable full-stack applications and services
- Contributing to system design and architectural discussions
- Building and maintaining APIs, integrations, and event-driven services
- Applying modern engineering practices, including API-first design, observability, resiliency, and automated testing
- Collaborating with product, security, and operations teams to deliver high-quality solutions
- Supporting platform modernization efforts and identifying technical improvements
- Contributing to GenAI-enabled capabilities and integrating with data, services, and emerging AI technologies
- Ensuring systems meet reliability, performance, and security expectations
- Troubleshooting production issues and driving continuous improvement initiatives
- Mentoring and supporting other engineers through code reviews and technical guidance
Requirements:
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of software development experience with enterprise-scale applications
- Strong experience in Kotlin/Java, Spring Boot, Golang, Kafka, REST/GraphQL, Postgres, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, and modern frontend frameworks (React preferred)
- Experience building scalable backend services, APIs, and distributed systems
- Strong understanding of integration patterns, including APIs, messaging, and event-driven architectures
- Experience working with cloud-native applications, observability, and operational excellence practices
- Exposure to GenAI/ML ecosystems, Python, LLM integrations, or data engineering concepts is a plus
