$147,000 - $279,000 per year

Apply on Hewlett Packard Enterprise

Description

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Pre-Silicon Diagnostics & Validation Engineer to join their team in Ft. Collins, Colorado or Bloomington, Minnesota.

As a Pre-Silicon Diagnostics & Validation Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development and validation of High Performance Computing (HPC) network interconnect ASICs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, execute, and maintain validation tests and frameworks for Network Interface Card (NIC) and Switch ASICs used in HPC interconnect solutions utilizing the HPE Slingshot protocol.
  • Perform full-chip validation using emulation and prototype silicon platforms to verify functional correctness, performance, reliability, and interoperability.
  • Develop software-based validation solutions, automation infrastructure, and diagnostic tools using Python, Linux, and related technologies.
  • Investigate and debug complex hardware, software, and system-level failures, working with design, architecture, firmware, and software teams to determine root cause and drive resolution.
  • Analyze validation results, identify coverage gaps and product risks, and recommend improvements to validation methodologies and test strategies.
  • Review hardware and software designs to ensure testability, diagnosability, and alignment with validation requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define validation plans, execute project milestones, and ensure product readiness.
  • Contribute to technical reviews and provide feedback to improve product quality, validation effectiveness, and engineering processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers and serve as a resource for validation methodologies, tools, and debug techniques.
  • Drive improvements in validation infrastructure, automation, and development workflows to increase productivity and test coverage.
  • Communicate validation status, technical findings, risks, and recommendations to project stakeholders and management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
  • 6-10 years of experience in VLSI design, verification, validation, or implementation, including experience leading teams or complex projects.
  • Experience developing and executing complex validation or diagnostic test environments.

Preferred Skills:

  • Advanced experience with ASIC validation, diagnostics, or verification methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of digital design, computer architecture, and VLSI principles.
  • Experience developing validation software using Python and Linux-based environments.
  • Experience with debugging complex hardware and software interactions in large-scale system environments.
  • Knowledge of Verilog and familiarity with RTL design concepts and debug workflows.
  • Experience with EDA, emulation, FPGA, or related pre-silicon development tools.
  • Understanding of industry standard networking protocols; experience with HPC interconnects is a plus.
  • Familiarity with NIC and Switch ASIC architectures is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical problems and drive issues to closure.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive suite of benefits that supports physical, financial, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Investment in career development and growth.
  • Unconditional inclusion and celebration of individual uniqueness.

Salary Range:

  • $147,000 - $279,000 per year (Colorado)
  • $140,000 - $321,000 per year (Minnesota)
