Description
The Security Officer provides a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees, and volunteers, typically in an office or ambulatory clinic setting.
This position is responsible for monitoring visitor or patient activity, premises security, enforcing policy, providing assistance and direction, responding to emergencies, and protecting employees, visitors, and Intermountain property.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor security technology systems, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems, ensuring proper functioning and maintenance.
- Use de-escalation techniques to calm individuals and resolve conflicts peacefully, minimizing physical force.
- Intervene in situations involving violent patients to protect everyone's safety, using physical restraints when necessary.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, such as HIPAA, when reporting crimes or incidents.
- Respond to bomb threats and suspicious packages following established protocols.
- Participate in drills, such as infant abduction and active shooter scenarios.
- Conduct respectful and safe searches of patients and areas for narcotics.
- Perform safety inspections of walking surfaces, fire extinguishers, and overall facility safety.
- Enforce parking regulations to ensure safety and accessibility.
- Collaborate with HR and law enforcement on investigations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Driver's License (if applicable).
- Current Basic Life Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers or willing to obtain within 90 days.
- At least 21 years old.
- Security Guard Licensure required within 120 days of hire (for Montana locations).
Preferred Qualifications
- One-year experience in law enforcement, corrections, public safety, military police, or security.
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need to see, read, and assess information.
- Frequent interactions with customers requiring communication and understanding.
- Manual dexterity for manipulating equipment.
- Ability to lift and transport equipment.
The hourly range for this position is $20.45 - $27.04.
