Description
As a Manufacturing Engineer at 3M, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with innovative people around the world and make an impact by analyzing existing CNC machining manufacturing processes, leading the design and development of tooling and fixtures, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze existing CNC machining manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of tooling, fixtures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the grind shop
- Support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean/Kaizen) to reduce waste, drive cost savings, and enhance quality
- Troubleshoot production issues in the grinding operation, perform root-cause analyses, and implement corrective/preventive actions
- Collaborate with production associates, quality department, maintenance, and other areas for new product development initiatives and qualification plans
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering Discipline
- Three years of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government, or military environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of experience with SolidWorks and/or Auto CAD
- Familiarity with CNC machining operations and CMM machining and programming
- Five years of Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root-cause analysis
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under deadlines
- Effective communication and teamwork across functional teams
