Description
We are seeking an AI Platform Architect to shape the technical trajectory of our 300+ engineer organisation. As a Senior Principal Engineer, you will operate across five major departments, including merchant platforms, search & personalisation, ads & monetisation, transaction systems, and enterprise capabilities.
The mission is to turn AI into engineering leverage by architecting and scaling AI-assisted development workflows, agentic operational automation, reliability guardrails powered by AI, and safe, test-backed automation systems. You will also focus on building reliability that feels invisible by raising prevention standards, institutionalising chaos engineering, strengthening detection and recovery mechanisms, and reducing incident impact.
Additionally, you will break platform silos by designing a unified ecosystem where ranking frameworks converge, user understanding powers multiple surfaces, data infrastructure reduces cost and instability, and shared capabilities unlock new business models. You will also architect for pattern-breaking growth by designing clean foundations, defining execution models optimised for velocity, enabling AI-native product experiences, and balancing exploration with ecosystem coherence.
The ideal candidate is a rare combination of deep distributed systems thinker, fluent in AI/ML system realities, opinionated about engineering culture, comfortable influencing senior stakeholders, and energised by ambiguity.
