Description
NVIDIA is seeking a DSX Energy Engineer to join our team in Santa Clara, CA. You will play a pivotal role in advancing the energy systems that power large-scale AI. You will ensure reliable, affordable, and scalable energy for our AI factories.
Responsibilities:
- Build strong feedback loops with utilities, independent power producers, generation developers, transmission owners, RTOs and ISOs, EPC firms, equipment manufacturers, energy technology companies, NVIDIA Cloud Partners, and AI factory operators.
- Translate recurring energy-development, interconnection, reliability, commercial, and community concerns into clear written requirements for DSX product management and engineering roadmaps.
- Collaborate across NVIDIA and with partners to develop mentorship for behind-the-meter and front-of-the-meter energy strategies.
- Lead technical workshops and architecture reviews to help partners evaluate generation and interconnection options against site-specific requirements.
- Support early-access and field-validation initiatives for DSX Energy capabilities.
- Engage utilities, regulators, consumer advocates, and host communities on energy affordability, reliability, infrastructure investment, siting, land use, water, emissions, and noise.
- Work across DSX engineering, data center engineering, product management, solution architecture, deployment, sustainability, public policy, and developer marketing to align technical content with product capabilities and collaborator needs.
- Represent DSX Energy at customer forums, energy conferences, regulatory workshops, community discussions, and industry working groups.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Systems, or a related technical field or equivalent experience.
- 12 or more years of experience in power generation, transmission, distribution, utility planning, energy project development, large-load interconnection, energy systems engineering, solution architecture, or a related customer-facing engineering role.
- Deep knowledge of the electric power system, from generation and transmission through distribution, substations, utility service, and large-load facilities.
- Ability to reason from rack-level load behavior back to the point of common coupling.
- Working familiarity with large-load data center electrical architecture.
- Experience with behind-the-meter and front-of-the-meter generation, energy storage, microgrids, distributed energy assets, and hybrid power systems.
- Understanding of conventional, renewable, and emerging generation technologies and their technical, operational, commercial, and environmental tradeoffs.
- Knowledge of load-flow, short-circuit, stability, interconnection, transmission-capacity, and resource-adequacy studies.
- Practical understanding of RTO and ISO procedures, utility tariffs, power purchase agreements, energy and capacity markets, demand response, grid services, and infrastructure cost allocation.
- Ability to turn complex engineering, regulatory, economic, and community topics into clear technical mentorship, presentations, training, and productive discussions with varied audiences.
Nice to Have:
- Direct participation in utility-scale generation, transmission development, large-load interconnection, or co-located generation projects.
- Experience crafting behind-the-meter systems that combine generation, battery storage, microgrids, and grid-interactive controls.
- Knowledge of power-flexible data centers, demand response, workload orchestration, and the use of AI factories as controllable grid assets.
- Experience with utility rate proceedings, large-load tariffs, interconnection agreements, infrastructure cost allocation, or ratepayer-protection mechanisms.
- Familiarity with advanced nuclear, natural gas, geothermal, solar, wind, fuel cells, long-duration storage, and other technologies relevant to reliable AI factory power.
You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
