Description
Synopsys software engineers are key enablers in the world of Electronic Design Automation (EDA), developing and maintaining software used in chip design, verification and manufacturing.
The Senior Staff Engineer, Solutions Engineering will contribute to product development for IP compilers related to embedded monitoring, test, diagnostic, and repair solutions for 3DIC optical interconnects within the SMS/SHS product portfolio.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and develop IP compilers for embedded monitoring, test, diagnostic, and repair solutions targeting 3DIC optical interconnects within the SMS/SHS product line
- Build and maintain a multiphysics simulation bridge with Ansys, requiring comprehensive technical understanding and full collaboration on integration efforts
- Apply expertise in optical and photonic chip design, co-packaged opto-electronic systems, and test/diagnostics frameworks to deliver production-ready solutions
- Develop and refine IC design flows using Verilog and SystemVerilog, ensuring alignment with EDA toolchains and AI-assisted design methodologies
- Lead technical discussions, provide mentorship to engineering team members, and drive technical decisions that balance innovation with long-term maintainability
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation to support internal teams and external stakeholders

- Enable next-generation 3DIC optical interconnect solutions that advance industry capabilities in bandwidth, power efficiency, and system integration
- Deliver IP compilers that reduce time-to-market for customers developing advanced co-packaged optics and photonic systems
- Strengthen Synopsys' multiphysics simulation capabilities through direct integration with Ansys platforms
- Contribute to the technical development and growth of engineering team members through mentorship and knowledge transfer
- Influence product roadmaps by identifying technical gaps, proposing solutions, and providing technical direction for SMS/SHS offerings
- Enhance the robustness and scalability of test, diagnostic, and repair frameworks utilized across high-volume semiconductor manufacturing
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or a closely related technical discipline
- Demonstrated expertise in optical or photonic chip design and co-packaged opto-electronic test, diagnostics, and repair methodologies
- Strong technical background in multiphysics simulation, including reliability, mechanical, stress, and thermal analysis
- Comprehensive understanding of IC design flows, with hands-on experience in Verilog and SystemVerilog
- Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for automation and workflow development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with demonstrated ability to produce clear, comprehensive technical documentation
- Proven problem-solving capabilities and ability to address complex technical challenges
- Willingness to acquire new technical knowledge and contribute to innovative solutions
- Ability to function effectively as a technical leader and mentor within team environments
