We seek a Staff Software Engineer for our Messaging Experience team, responsible for building, maintaining, and evolving Canvas, our flagship product.
Responsibilities:
- Partner on the technical vision and quality bar for the division
- Drive architectural direction, define best practices, and ensure teams have a clear path to resolving persistent quality and technical debt issues
- Lead large, ambiguous projects end-to-end
- Support maturing channels
- Mentor engineers at every level
- Champion reliability and operability
- Deliver code
Requirements:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience building foundational backend systems at scale
- Comfortable working across the full stack
- Experience in Ruby on Rails and modern frontend environments (TypeScript, React)
- Strong architectural judgment
- Effective communicator and mentor
Nice to have:
- Experience building or maintaining shared component libraries or design system primitives
- Experience with real-time systems or event-driven architectures
- Experience with developer experience tooling
- Experience maturing a product from early stage to enterprise scale
For candidates based in Canada, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between CA$220,000 - CA$359,213/annually, with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between CA$244,000 - CA$398,400/annually.
