Description
Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Fullstack Engineer with strong backend experience to join the Application Core Services (AppCore) team. The successful candidate will work on billing, rates, usage calculations, usage visibility, and cloud marketplace integrations. They will lead complex technical work, contribute directly to implementation, and share ownership with the squad's other Staff and Senior engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs supporting billing, rates, usage calculations, usage visibility, and marketplace workflows.
- Build and maintain backend services primarily in Go, with Node.js also present in the stack.
- Contribute to TypeScript/React applications to deliver complete features.
- Improve the correctness and reliability of billing and usage workflows.
- Identify recurring manual tasks and replace them with maintainable automation.
- Maintain and evolve the infrastructure supporting the services.
- Investigate production issues across application code, databases, and infrastructure.
- Plan and execute service deployments, database changes, and infrastructure migrations.
- Build and maintain integrations with cloud marketplaces and external business systems.
- Deliver projects from understanding requirements and proposing an approach through implementation, testing, rollout, and production support.
Requirements:
- Substantial experience designing, delivering, and operating production backend systems.
- Strong experience building and operating production backend systems in Go.
- Professional experience contributing to frontend applications using TypeScript and React.
- Experience reasoning about distributed systems.
- Experience with relational databases.
- Practical experience deploying and troubleshooting containerized services and jobs in Kubernetes.
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure through code.
- Ability to investigate production problems using logs, metrics, and traces.
- A record of delivering projects end to end.
- Experience working remotely.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar domains and technologies.
- Experience writing readable, well-tested software.
- Willingness to participate in on-call and take responsibility for the production behavior of the systems.

- Experience with usage metering, billing engines, pricing and rates, financial reconciliation, or customer-facing cost management applications.
- Experience reducing operational toil and automating workflows.
- Experience with systems with auditability, traceability, or financial-control requirements.
- Experience with MySQL operations, replication, database upgrades, and performance tuning.
- Experience with Terraform, Jsonnet, and Kubernetes deployment configuration.
- Experience with Argo Workflows or comparable deployment and job-orchestration tooling.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure involving managed databases, object storage, service accounts, and access controls.
- Experience with data synchronization pipelines and BigQuery integrations.
- Experience with cloud marketplace integrations across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with integrations with business platforms such as NetSuite or Salesforce.
- Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, or OpenTelemetry.
