Description
The Business Development Representative (BDR) in PayPal’s Channel Partnerships and Business Development team creates new pipeline with higher-value merchants across Australia and New Zealand.
The BDR researches target accounts in assigned verticals, reaches senior decision makers through calls, social selling, email and events, and qualifies each opportunity before handing it to Enterprise or SMB sales.
You’ll work with channel partners and the Enterprise and SMB sales teams, using PayPal’s partner and ecosystem relationships to open doors and sharing leads both ways.
You’ll also help merchants that stall in onboarding get live.
It’s a high-energy hunter role for people who want to learn enterprise sales and be judged on the quality of the pipeline they create.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Complete routine tasks with detailed instructions.
- Utilize customer contact information to reach out via phone, social, and email.
- Discover customer needs and explain PayPal’s value proposition.
- Gain customer commitment to take the next step in the sales process.
- Suggest changes to existing processes and procedures to improve efficiency and results.
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications :
- Open doors with higher-value merchants by combining your own outbound with PayPal’s partner and ecosystem relationships.
- Turn first meetings into qualified opportunities that Enterprise and SMB sales are glad to receive: a clear need, the right decision maker and a realistic timeline.
- Build deep knowledge of your assigned verticals: who buys payments, how they decide, and what makes PayPal relevant to them.
- Be the Channel Partner Managers’ eyes and ears in the market. Share leads both ways, and bring back what you hear from merchants and partners.
- Help merchants that stall in onboarding get over the line, working with partners and the onboarding teams.
- Make the team better: record what works in messaging and process so the next BDR starts faster.
- Keep Salesforce accurate and up to date so pipeline reporting can be trusted.
What you bring:
- 1–2 years of sales, business development, marketing or lead generation experience. Payments, fintech, SaaS or eCommerce is a plus.
- A hunter mindset: motivation, resilience and comfort with cold calls, with the skill to get past barriers and reach senior decision makers.
- Experience developing leads from marketing campaigns or referrals is a plus.
- A track record of achieving individual and team goals in a professional setting.
- Curious and commercial: quick to learn a new vertical, its buyers and how they use payments.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with strong follow-up and note-taking discipline.
- Works well both independently and as part of a team in a high-energy, fast-changing sales environment.
- A desire to learn enterprise sales methodologies and build a career in sales or partnerships.
- Experience with Salesforce, ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator and Gong is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
