Description
We are seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee daily operations in our Engineering and Maintenance department at Soho House Los Cabos. The successful candidate will ensure seamless functioning of property facilities, equipment, and infrastructure, adhering to Soho House standards and regulatory requirements.
The Maintenance Supervisor will lead a maintenance team during shifts, coordinate external providers and contractors, and guarantee safe and efficient operation of property systems. Collaboration with the Maintenance Manager and other department heads will be essential to maintain property integrity, member and guest experience, and high safety and maintenance standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise maintenance team during shifts, ensuring facility functionality and safety standards.
- Assign work orders, coordinate daily activities, and track repairs and preventive maintenance programs.
- Attend daily operational meetings and maintain constant communication with department heads and leaders.
- Escalate operational incidents during shifts and inform relevant management teams.
- Ensure adherence to Engineering and Maintenance department procedures and standards.
- Conduct periodic inspections of rooms, public areas, service areas, and infrastructure.
- Support the Maintenance Manager in meeting local, state, and federal regulations.
- Provide technical support and resources to senior management, Housekeeping, and Reception teams.
- Coordinate and supervise external providers and contractors.
- Organize, plan, and oversee renovation, improvement, and repair projects.
- Manage inventory, purchasing, and control of spare parts, materials, and supplies.
- Administer budgets, expenses, and departmental activity records.
- Implement energy-saving strategies and cost reduction initiatives.
- Oversee corrective and preventive maintenance requests.
- Supervise HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and critical system maintenance.
- Ensure periodic maintenance of safety equipment.
- Train maintenance staff in technical procedures and safety protocols.
- Foster staff development through training and growth opportunities.
- Apply emergency procedures and collaborate with the Health and Safety team.
- Maintain organized, safe, and clean storage areas and workspaces.
- Report directly to the Maintenance Manager.
Working Hours This role involves rotating shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and nights, distributed evenly among the team.
- 5 working days per week within a 7-day operation.
- Availability to work weekends and holidays.
- On-call availability outside regular hours when required.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Proven experience leading technical maintenance teams and coordinating daily operations in hotels or similar properties.
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable experience in building maintenance or similar.
- Track record of executing projects within budget and deadlines.
- Solid knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
- Familiarity with hotel or service industry machinery and infrastructure.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and coordinate team activities effectively.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Collaborative and results-driven individual with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to participate in internal training and development programs.
- Previous experience in hospitality or service industries is advantageous.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to handle, manipulate, and lift objects regularly.
- Capacity to move quickly between different property areas.
- Ability to lift, pull, push, or load at least 14 kg (30 lbs).
- Capability to kneel, bend, squat, and climb stairs occasionally.
- Physical stamina to perform prolonged periods of standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
