Description
As a senior technical animator within the March of Giants team at Ubisoft Montreal, you will support, improve, and evolve the animation systems used in production. You will work closely with animation, rigging, game design, and programming teams to ensure performance and quality of animation systems.
Responsibilities:
- Support and evolve animation systems, including motion capture, facial animation, and lip sync;
- Collaborate with animation and rigging teams on procedural systems and animation structures;
- Analyse production needs and propose tools, methods, and best practices;
- Perform technical validation of animation resources and support artists;
- Support integration of animations into the game engine;
- Create and test animation and physics prototypes in the engine;
- Maintain and improve the animation production pipeline and associated tools;
- Write and update technical documentation for the animation team.
Qualifications:
- Good understanding of animation workflows in a game engine;
- Strong knowledge of animation principles, anatomy, and body mechanics;
- Experience with Unreal Engine and Blueprints;
- Knowledge of rigging systems, inverse kinematics, and state machines;
- Ability to develop or adapt tools using scripting languages like Python or MaxScript;
- Familiarity with digital content creation software for animation;
- Basic modelling and animation skills;
- Excellent collaboration and interdisciplinary communication skills;
- Attention to detail, autonomy, and adaptability.
