Description
The Physical Engineering team at OpenAI's Enterprise Verticals organization focuses on leveraging frontier AI to enhance the design, simulation, and production of physical products, initially concentrating on mechanical and electrical engineering.
As a Founding Full Stack Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in defining and constructing the product and technical foundations of this new vertical. Your responsibilities will span across frontend experiences, backend services, and integrations to seamlessly integrate AI into intricate engineering workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deploy full-stack AI products tailored for mechanical and electrical engineers during the design and simulation phases.
- Oversee projects from initial customer discovery and prototyping through production deployment and continuous iteration.
- Develop intuitive interfaces that facilitate users' understanding, inspection, and refinement of complex engineering outputs.
- Construct backend services, APIs, plugins, and integrations that link OpenAI models with engineering software.
- Collaborate directly with customers to grasp engineering constraints, pinpoint valuable applications, and adapt specific needs into broadly beneficial products.
- Work alongside research, design, platform, and forward-deployed engineering teams to incorporate emerging AI capabilities into practical workflows.
- Assess quality and reliability using customer feedback and product evidence to gauge improvements in engineers' workflows.
- Contribute to establishing the technical foundations and engineering practices of a growing team.
Ideal candidates will have experience in building CAD, CAE, simulation, or other engineering design software, and be adept at working independently, making informed decisions with limited information, and navigating between product specifics and system architecture.
