Description
We are seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer to manage a team working on electric transmission line design projects for major utilities. The successful candidate will serve as a Lead Engineer and Project Manager, applying standards such as NESC, ASCE, and NEC in the engineering and design of capital and maintenance projects from 34.5 kV to 500 kV.
The Lead Transmission Line Engineer will direct a team of engineers performing analyses, PLS-CADD modeling, structure loading calculations, and preparing plans and specifications. This is a senior leadership role with primary responsibilities in client relations, staff management, proposal development, and project execution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Directing multiple design teams on various projects and programs
- Developing a team of engineers through training, coaching, and mentoring
- Supervising staff and participating in leadership team discussions
- Creating proposals and defining scopes of work for new projects
- Managing project portfolios and ensuring quality control
- Liaising with clients to foster relationships and drive business growth
Requirements include:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (Civil preferred)
- 8+ years of experience in electric utility transmission system design (or 6+ years with a Master's degree)
- Expertise in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE
- Experience working in a team environment and independently
- Strong communication skills and business acumen
Preferred qualifications include:
- 2+ years of supervising staff
- M.S. degree in Structural Engineering
- Experience with TOWER, LPILE, FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD, and GIS
- EIT or PE certification
The role offers a competitive salary range of $92,300 - $166,850, flexible work arrangements, and opportunities for career development and growth.
