Description
We are seeking a Microbiological Analyst to join our team in Chilliwack, British Columbia. As a Microbiological Analyst, you will be responsible for the quality control of raw materials, semi-finished goods, packaging materials, and the production environment in the microbiology laboratory area.
Responsibilities:
- Execute microbiological analysis for the quality control of raw materials, semi-finished products, packaging materials, and the production environment.
- Conduct and support sampling activities, including incoming goods sampling, establishing sample drawing procedures, collecting samples, and transferring samples to the laboratory.
- Prepare microbiological samples, use or prepare plates, incubate samples, evaluate results, add explanatory comments where required, document analysis results, and create reports.
- Execute maintenance, calibration, and coordination of laboratory equipment service, repairs, and supplier appointments as required.
- Develop, validate, adapt, and document microbiological methods, SOPs, and quality-management documentation for the Chilliwack facility.
- Collaborate with and support the laboratory team, production, quality assurance, quality control, and facility management during startup and routine operations.
- Schedule and complete environmental monitoring activities on monthly, quarterly, or other defined cycles, and coordinate testing requirements with production.
- Collaborate within the company's HACCP team and contribute to food-safety and quality-system requirements.
Requirements:
- Strong analytical and technical skills and proficient in the use of laboratory equipment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO, GMP, GLP, or similar quality systems.
- Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data analysis software.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- BSc. in Microbiology-related fields or equivalent experience or training. Master's degree is an asset.
