Description
WSP is currently seeking a Senior Engineer – Substation - Civil & Structures to join our Energy Networks Business Unit. You will work out of our office in India, collaborating closely with our various offices located in UK & Ireland.
As a Senior Engineer, you will participate in T&D projects as a technical expert and project lead. You will be semi-autonomous in delivering T&D projects.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to estimating engineering efforts for substation structural design
- Contribute to project planning for substation structural design – delivery lists, Engineering Delivery Schedules
- Contribute to technical project execution for substation structural design – steel and concrete design; civil design a plus
- Lead the technical execution effort – monitor deadlines and perform QAQC for single discipline projects
- Lead technical aspects of projects – steel design, foundation design, drafting efforts, coordination with the HV electrical team, HV Cable team, OHL team in India and UK, etc.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil & Structural Engineering from an accredited university. Master’s degree is not required, but is a definitive asset
- 6-10 years of experience in design and detailing of structural systems and foundations for transmission level substations or relevant experience in a similar role for projects with UK & Ireland design codes
- Knowledge and mastery of UK & Ireland structural building norms and Codes
- Understanding of drafting and delivery of construction documents and specifications
- Demonstrated proficiency with structural design software – Tekla Structural Designer, STAAD.Pro, or similar software packages
- Ability to execute with minimal direction from Project Engineer, ability to take initiative, ability to prioritize work independently
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Strong ability to lead drafting designers in preparations of construction documents
- Strong and demonstrated ability to coordinate structural design with civil design
- Strong and demonstrated ability to execute structural design for steel frames, steel gantry’s, steel columns, steel structures supporting electrical wires/conductors, etc.
- Strong and demonstrated ability to execute structural design for RCC Structures, concrete foundations
- Very good English (spoken and written)
- UK & Ireland Professional Membership & Qualification is not required, professional qualification is a plus
