Description

At Flexport, we're building a platform that connects climate insights with operational decisions to drive emissions reductions. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Climate team, you'll work independently to identify valuable problems to solve, shape the product direction, and turn ideas into reliable software.

You'll collaborate closely with the Climate Manager to understand customer needs, challenge assumptions, and translate business goals into a practical product roadmap. You'll own delivery from problem discovery and technical design through implementation, launch, operation, and iteration.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building emissions intelligence into everyday supply chain decisions, such as routing, transport mode, shipment timing, and inventory planning
  • Helping customers identify opportunities to reduce emissions using Flexport's shipment data
  • Making lower-emission choices easier to understand and act on within existing workflows
  • Developing products that help customers understand the wider environmental footprint of their supply chains, beyond freight
  • Delivering useful improvements incrementally, balancing speed, scope, maintainability, and data accuracy

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong engineering foundation and experience delivering production software
  • A track record of working independently, bringing structure to unclear problems, setting priorities, and following through without detailed specifications
  • Strong product judgment, understanding user needs, identifying what is worth building, and making thoughtful tradeoffs between impact and effort
  • Experience working closely with business stakeholders, asking good questions, explaining technical choices in plain language, and constructively challenging ideas
  • Ability to own features across the stack, including user interfaces, backend services, and data integrations
  • Love of simple, well-tested code that is easy to extend and hard to break

Nice to have:

  • Personal motivation to work on climate and environmental challenges
  • Experience in climate technology, emissions accounting, logistics, or supply chain software
  • Experience building products in a startup or small team with broad ownership
  • Experience turning complex data into customer-facing insights and decision tools

Benefits:

  • Direct ownership of products that help customers make better supply chain and environmental decisions
  • Opportunity to shape Climate technology with autonomy and reach of Flexport
  • Equity participation and defined pension contribution scheme
  • 25 vacation days based on full-time employment
  • Fully paid premiums for Flexport's collective health insurance plan
  • Catered lunches, breakfast, snacks, and drinks in the office
  • Covered home-to-office commuting costs for employees living outside Amsterdam
