Description
At Soho House, the Pastry Cook I collaborates with the Pastry Chef to create, craft, and develop simple, rustic, approachable yet memorable desserts, pastries, or other sweet goods.
The role involves being responsible for all aspects of the Pastry Kitchen, including preparation, production, à la carte, and COGS (Cost of Goods Sold).
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing delicious, house-made pastries, following recipes, and contributing creatively in a fast-paced environment
- Supporting the Pastry Chef with inventory management, purchasing, and ensuring optimal kitchen performance
- Supervising Pastry Cooks, including onboarding and on-the-job training
- Adhering to health and safety policies and implementing company procedures
- Maintaining precise attention to detail and efficiency in creating à la carte dishes
- Supporting the Pastry Chef with end-of-shift reports and handover sheets
- Ensuring consistent experience for Soho House Standards for service
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of 3+ years' experience in a fast-paced, upscale environment
- Strong understanding of making pastry dishes from scratch and plating à la carte and production
- Proven ability to execute all menu items and prepare top-quality dishes
- Food handler's certificate
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as a team player
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical demands of the role include:
- Ability to lift, carry, or move at least 40 pounds
- Frequent standing, walking, and movement in a fast-paced environment
