Description
SpaceXAI aims to develop AI systems that accurately understand the universe and support humanity's pursuit of knowledge. The organisation operates with a flat structure, emphasising hands-on contributions and strong communication skills.
About the Role
SpaceXAI is building large-scale networks for training and inference infrastructure, including high-performance computing fabrics and core, edge, and datacentre networks. We seek a Network Engineer experienced in production network design, deployment, and operations.
This hands-on role involves designing and building networks, qualifying platforms, and ensuring high availability and performance. Travel to build sites, such as Memphis, may be required, and participation in on-call rotations is expected.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and operate production datacentre and campus/core networks at scale
- Develop and maintain routing and switching configuration standards, including BGP and an interior gateway protocol such as OSPF or IS-IS
- Qualify new network platforms, optics, and topologies, contributing to architecture and capacity planning
- Improve monitoring, alerting, and operational documentation to quickly identify and resolve issues
- Troubleshoot Layer 2/Layer 3 incidents end-to-end, driving root cause analysis and lasting fixes
- Automate repetitive network tasks using Python, Ansible, or similar tooling
- Collaborate with compute, facilities, and software teams during cluster build-outs and maintenance windows
- Support high-performance computing network environments, including Ethernet AI/HPC fabrics and RoCE/RDMA-capable designs
Basic Qualifications
- Several years of experience designing and operating production networks in datacentre, ISP, cloud, or large enterprise environments
- Hands-on experience with BGP and at least one interior routing protocol
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, EVPN/VXLAN, and optics/high-speed Ethernet
- Experience troubleshooting live production network incidents and participating in on-call rotations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with modern datacentre vendors such as Arista, Cisco, Juniper, or Nvidia/Mellanox
- Familiarity with high-performance or supercompute networking, including RoCEv2 and congestion control
- Network automation experience with Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tooling
- Experience with EVPN, leaf-spine, and large-scale Ethernet fabrics
- Prior work supporting rapid datacentre or cluster capacity build-outs
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to work onsite in Dublin
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range is $100,000 - $150,000 base. The total rewards package includes equity, comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, and various discounts and perks.
