We're building a world-class team in India to create tooling that helps customers migrate their data from legacy relational databases to MongoDB in real-time. As companies modernize their application and data ecosystems, they're increasingly drawn to the flexibility and scalability of the document model.
We're seeking an experienced Staff Engineer with expertise in the Java ecosystem, streaming systems, and data-intensive applications to join our team. You'll be a key contributor to our backend services, collaborating with product management and engineers to design and implement cutting-edge products.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 8+ years of commercial software development experience with JVM languages like Java, preferably using the Spring ecosystem
- Extensive experience with streaming data platforms like Apache Kafka and Change Data Capture tools like Debezium
- Relational data modeling experience and hands-on experience with SQL databases like Postgres or MySQL
- Exposure to client-side technologies like JavaScript and React is a plus
- Thought leadership on emerging technologies and best practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Position Expectations:
- Drive the architectural vision and technical strategy for the data migration engine
- Partner with Engineering Leadership, Product Management, and Design to shape the technical roadmap
- Define and champion engineering best practices and mentor engineers
Success Measures: Within three months:
- Familiarize yourself with MongoDB and the problem space
- Set up software development infrastructure
- Collaborate with peers and contribute to code reviews
Within six months:
- Deliver a large-scale code analysis feature
- Contribute to product releases and technical design documents
Within 12 months:
- Deliver large-scale features across the tech stack
- Help recruit, interview, and mentor new team members
- Collaborate with other teams at MongoDB
