Description
WSP is seeking an Assistant Fare Collection Technician/Mechanic to support on-site work in NYC Transit subway stations, focusing on OMNY technology deployment and legacy fare system support.
The successful candidate will oversee the installation and commissioning of OMNY contactless fare payment devices, fare gates/turnstiles, and ticket vending machines. They will also assist in ensuring reliable performance testing of contactless and open-payment systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and reporting on the installation and commissioning of OMNY technology and legacy fare systems
- Working on-site within active subway station environments
- Coordinating with NYCT personnel to maintain service continuity and minimize customer disruption
- Maintaining installation logs, test reports, and field observation records
- Following all MTA NYCT safety, operational, and compliance requirements
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working within NYCT stations on fare gates, ticket vending machines, and related systems. They possess strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and can read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

The expected salary range for this position is $59,500.00 - $80,000.00.
