Description

We are recruiting for Business Support Managers in Justice Digital, Data and Science to be part of our collaborative teams.

This role is central to the effective running of JDDS. You will work closely with the Senior Management Team, profession leads, managers, Finance and Recruitment colleagues to maintain accurate workforce information, coordinate workforce planning and support informed decision-making.

You will help ensure that workforce changes, recruitment activity, contractor requests and reporting are managed accurately, promptly and in line with MoJ and local policies and processes. The role also offers the opportunity to improve how JDDS manages its internal processes, data and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the monthly workforce planning cycle, working with the Senior Management Team, profession leads and managers to gather, validate and action workforce changes.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date workforce data, including headcount, vacancies, recruitment campaigns, people transfers and cost centre changes, helping to support payroll and financial alignment.
  • Work with Finance and Recruitment colleagues to forecast vacancies, develop recruitment plans and monitor delivery against agreed timescales.
  • Produce clear and timely workforce reporting, including information on headcount, planned and live vacancies, recruitment and onboarding activity, and roles at risk of not being filled.
  • Provide regular workforce extracts and ad hoc analysis to support planning and decision making by senior leaders, profession leads and managers.
  • Chair workforce planning forums for each profession, recording decisions and ensuring agreed changes and recruitment actions are followed through.
  • Act as a key point of contact for contingent labour business cases, supporting requests for new contractors and extensions, testing the strength of business justifications and identifying opportunities to improve the process.
  • Continuously review and improve digital processes, guidance and reporting, ensuring local and JDDS requirements are followed and appropriate financial controls are maintained.

Benefits:

  • A generous employer pension contribution of 28.97% through the Civil Service Pension Scheme.
  • 25 days of annual leave, (increasing to 30 days once you have reached 5 years of service), plus 8 bank holidays and a privilege day for the King’s birthday.
  • Flexible working arrangements including hybrid working, working part time or compressed hours.
  • Employees are allocated 10% of their working time for personal and professional development.
  • A £1k per person learning budget is in place to support all our people, with access to best-in-class conferences and seminars, accreditation with professional bodies, fully funded vocational programmes and e-learning platforms.
  • Compassionate maternity, adoption, and shared parental leave policies, with up to 26 weeks leave at full pay, 13 weeks with partial pay, and 13 weeks further leave.

Person Specification:

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the confidence to work effectively with senior leaders, profession leads, managers, and corporate teams.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage, interpret and quality assure complex workforce data.
  • Experience of managing or working with workforce information and systems.
  • Practical experience of using Excel to analyse and report information.
  • The role holder should be competent, remain calm in a crisis and have good listening, negotiating, influencing, planning and organisation skills.
  • They should be used to working under pressure, in a demanding environment, with the capability to quickly determine what is needed to address an issue.
