We are seeking a Senior PostgreSQL SRE to join our team. The successful candidate will support the organisation in achieving its strategic objectives by identifying business requirements and solutions that address business problems and opportunities.
Job Summary As a Senior PostgreSQL SRE, you will apply software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response to ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of systems, platforms, and technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure availability, performance, and scalability of systems and services through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and capacity planning.
- Resolve, analyse, and respond to system outages and disruptions, and implement measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
- Develop tools and scripts to automate operational processes, reducing manual workload, increasing efficiency, and improving system resilience.
- Monitor and optimise system performance and resource usage, identify and address bottlenecks, and implement best practices for performance tuning.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate best practices for reliability, scalability, and performance into the software development lifecycle.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Principal Level Database Administrator, with a focus on PostgreSQL and similar database technologies.
- Proven track record of implementing and leading SRE practices across large organisations or complex teams.
- Expert-level knowledge of telemetry, monitoring, and platform observability tooling.
- Leadership role in implementing modern DevOps and SRE practices in enterprise environments.
- Proven expertise in SQL query optimisation and database performance tuning at scale.
- Experience with DevOps automation tools such as Code versioning, JIRA, Ansible, Containers, and Kubernetes.
Nice to Have
- Extensive knowledge and working experience in Technology, Information, and Security domain.
- Working experience in a financial environment.
- Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience of working on Data migration tools and software.
- Expert in system configuration management tools such as Chef, Ansible for database server configurations.
- Expert expertise with scripting languages for automation/migration tasks.
- AWS Certified Database – Specialty certification.
