Description
Ajax Systems is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its team. The engineer will be responsible for the complete lifecycle design of plastic enclosures and mechanical assemblies for consumer electronics.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing ergonomic and intuitive solutions adaptable to different operating environments
- Collaborating with hardware and embedded engineers, industrial designers, technologists, quality control, and manufacturing departments
- Preparing production transfer documentation, including 2D drawings, specifications, and 3D models for molds
- Supporting mold development and approving modifications after initial mold trials
- Participating in testing and feedback from prototypes and production
- Verifying engineering compliance of the finished product with expected technical parameters
- Overseeing the product lifecycle from concept to mass production, including cost analysis and assessment of design decisions on production costs
- Communicating with Chinese factories on technical specifications, drawing reviews, and change control
- Assessing manufacturing risks in China, including equipment limitations, mold quality, and production tolerances
- Inspecting samples from China and reporting defects
- Considering potential scaling difficulties in China, including timeline tracking and price optimization
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, specifically 3D modeling and design
- Knowledge of DFM, DFA, and manufacturing processes, including mold design and optimization for scalability and cost reduction
- Experience working with factories in Ukraine and China
- Understanding of materials science and standards, including properties of various materials and sealing methods
- Familiarity with functional elements, such as fasteners, clips, and guides
- Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with Chinese suppliers
- Experience with project management tools, such as SolidWorks PDM, Excel, and Google Docs
