We are looking for a strong technologist who has proven experience in developing enterprise backend applications with expertise in coding, system design, and solving complex problems.
The Unified Notification Platform team under Core Platform Organization is responsible for enabling all PayPal businesses to reach out to their customers and merchants through various channels like SMS, Email, Push Notifications, Alerts, and Webhooks.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Implements tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), receiving structure and oversight from more experienced staff
- Follows well-established internal conventions and standard procedures
- Understands internal standards & processes and applies them to make technical decisions
- Collaborates with peers, manager, and project lead to gain understanding of tasks and review solutions
- May contribute to code & design reviews

Your day to day
- Active participation in feature development, enhancements
- Gaining domain knowledge and solving complex problems related to scalability and throughput
- Participate in design discussions and provide valuable insights
- Provide solutions and fixes to issues and bugs reported against the platform
What do you need to bring
- 1-4 years of experience in software development
- Solid understanding of algorithms and data structures, knowledge of object-oriented design, Design Patterns, and multi-threaded programming
- Strong OOP skills, with the ability to analyze requirements and transform into scalable software designs
- Experience with HTTP, REST APIs, and competent designing and building web services/microservices in a commercial setting
- Competent in design/implementation for reliability, availability, scalability, and performance
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analytical skills
- Hands-on Java Programming Expertise (Core Java, J2EE, Spring framework)
- Hands-on Building Restful Services
- Follow coding and design best practices
- Experience working on SQL, NoSQL solutions with a clear understanding of pros and cons of both relational & free-form databases
- Knowledge and a particular interest in issues related to large-scale distributed stream processing, real-time computation systems
- Ability to determine the impact of architectural solutions and come up with recommendations
- Design, architect, and build data systems and pipelines
- Ability to navigate org boundaries and work fairly independently with limited handholding
- Exhibit one team behavior and work with several stakeholders and team members cohesively
- Experience in pair programming with AI
