Description
WPVI-TV, an ABC owned television station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is seeking a part-time News Intern for Spring 2027. The internship is a six-month commitment from January 2027 to June 2027, working 20 hours a week. As an intern, you will work closely with journalists, producers, photojournalists, and digital teams to learn about the inner workings of a major television newsroom.
Responsibilities:
- Assist producers, executive producers, reporters, photojournalists, digital producers, and assignment editors
- Attend editorial meetings where story decisions are made
- Help with newsgathering, breaking news coverage, and special projects
- Learn video editing and newsroom production workflows
- Support election coverage and major planned events
- See how content is created and distributed across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social media platforms
- Field phone calls and emails from viewers, public information officers, community organizations, and newsmakers
Requirements:
- Demonstrated interest in journalism, storytelling, and current events
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience handling phone calls and inquiries from viewers, organizations, and public officials
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
- Organized with attention to detail
- Junior or senior in college, declared major or previous coursework in a mass media/new media-related field
- Enrolled in an accredited college/university, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to participation in the internship program
- At least 18 years of age, with unrestricted work authorization
Benefits:
- Pay rate: $23.00 per hour
