Description
We are seeking a Primary Substation Design Engineer to join our team in the United Kingdom.
As a Primary Substation Design Engineer, you will produce a comprehensive suite of design drawings for Grid and Primary substations. You will prepare technical specifications for Electrical plant and provide associated electrical designs for substation upgrades and new substations projects from 11kV up to and including 132kV.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing substation design feasibility reports, cost estimates, layouts, and plant specifications
- Reviewing designs produced by suppliers and clients to ensure technical compliance
- Ensuring designs are delivered in accordance with the contract and client specifications
- Undertaking the role of CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer for developed HV and EHV projects
- Identifying and managing Health and Safety risks and hazards
- Attending site meetings to support design or requirement changes during project build
- Developing external and internal client relationships
Requirements:
- Minimum qualification HNC Electrical Engineering
- Experience of HV and EHV Plant specification, design, load calculations, and rating studies
- Exposure to substation cable design and protection and control
- Proven experience in HV and EHV substation design (both AIS & GIS), from 11kV up to and including 132kV
- Knowledge of engineering standards and technical policies for HV and EHV plant, substations
- Ability to interpret technical documentation relating to electrical substation design
- Design cost estimation experience
- Excellent understanding of H&S and CDM requirements
