Description
We are seeking a Sr Manager, Retail Accounting to join our Finance and Accounting team. As a collaborative partner, you will provide strategic direction and leadership to the Inventory Intelligence team, ensuring effective processes and controls for timely and accurate financial statements. You will oversee key controls processes, support admin responsibilities for core inventory valuation systems, and lead operational and SOX controls routines.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Inventory Intelligence team
- Oversee lead key controls processes around material transactional flows
- Support admin responsibilities for core inventory valuation systems
- Lead key operational and SOX controls routines across the Retail Accounting Team
- Work with cross-functional partners to translate business operations and new initiatives into accounting and financial reporting outcomes
- Advocate for Controllership in enterprise-wide initiatives and system modernizations
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardization, technology, and analytics
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to build a collaborative, high-performing team
Requirements:
- B.A./B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance
- 6+ years of accounting, finance, or relevant business experience
- CPA and/or public accounting experience preferred
- Team leadership experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, inventory accounting concepts
- Experience evaluating and operationalizing accounting guidance for complex or evolving business models
- Demonstrated experience operating within a strong internal control environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong digital acumen, including experience with ERP systems, data analysis, and process automation

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target's needs. The team member's core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location (Tues/Wednesday) and virtually.
