IBM Middleware Engineer

We are seeking an IBM Middleware Engineer to join our team, working within complex, multi-vendor environments hosted on AIX.

In this role, you will be responsible for the deployment, administration, and optimisation of IBM middleware technologies, including WebSphere Application Server, WebSeal, ISAM, ACE, and WebSphere Liberty.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to help ensure secure, reliable, and high-performing middleware solutions that support critical business applications.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain IBM middleware products within AIX environments.
• Troubleshoot middleware issues, monitor system performance, support capacity planning, and optimise middleware platforms for availability and performance.
• Implement and manage security policies, authentication, and authorisation using WebSeal and ISAM.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code for middleware deployment and configuration using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or similar.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams, maintain technical and operational documentation, contribute to disaster recovery activities, and mentor junior team members.

Requirements:

• An interest in developing technical experience across middleware administration, automation, security integration, and performance tuning.
• Ability to develop stakeholder management, communication, and complex problem-solving skills, with an adaptable approach to changing requirements.
• A commitment to continuous learning, with certifications such as IBM Certified System Administrator – WebSphere or related credentials highly regarded.
