Description

Join BBC Studios as a Data Scientist (DSD27) apprentice and kick-start your career in a job you'll love. You'll learn on the job, developing your knowledge and skills in data science, while working towards your apprenticeship qualification with one of our learning providers.

The Data Science team at BBC Studios helps the company better understand its customers and the content served to them, turning raw data into valuable insights and products. As a Data Scientist apprentice, you'll help explore and analyse commercial data, investigate trends in advertising performance, and turn findings into clear insights for colleagues.

You'll work with the Ad Sales Strategy & Business Intelligence Team, which turns advertising and sales data into trusted information to help teams understand performance, identify opportunities, and make better commercial decisions. You'll also spend time with the Data Analytics and Data Science teams, learning about data preparation, statistical models, and machine learning techniques.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Learning about the value of data to organisations like the BBC
  • Discovering how the BBC uses data to improve its connection with audiences and internal tooling and workflows
  • Being part of a team using data to enhance the way the BBC operates, using AI and machine learning approaches to deliver valuable audience insights and products
  • Contributing to all aspects of the Data Science lifecycle, from inception to production deployment and beyond

You'll study for your industry-recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on and off the job. You'll spend at least one day a week studying for a BSc (Hons) in Data Science with BPP University remotely, covering topics including artificial intelligence and deep learning, machine learning, data infrastructure and tools, and data visualisation and dashboards.

To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must be 18 years old or over, have lived in the UK continuously for the last three years, and be legally eligible to work full-time in the UK. You must also have maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above, and have achieved or be expected to achieve a minimum of 104 UCAS points.

In return, you'll receive an industry-recognised qualification, excellent career and professional development opportunities, a competitive salary package, and a range of benefits including a 35-hour working week, 25 days annual leave, and a defined pension scheme.
