Description
As a System Assurance Engineer within the FAST (Feature Assurance and Systems Troubleshooting) organisation, you will be responsible for ensuring that certain electrical and electrical mechanical systems, across all Ford and Lincoln programs, launch with perfection.
You will review system designs, requirements, develop test plans, execute 'negative' testing, work closely with the Design & Release systems engineering team, test execution teams, quality and triage teams.
Responsibilities
- Product ownership: Responsible for the launch of electrical and electro-mechanical systems, ensuring partner teams create robust architecture designs, boundary diagrams, design requirements, and DFMEAs, integrating hardware and software solutions together to a product on a program.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (including product/program management, validation and verification, software & hardware design, integration, quality, architecture, functional safety, and cyber security) to drive execution to program timelines. Collaborate closely with test engineers to verify and validate the system. This includes developing test plans, test procedures, and requirement verification plans.
- Triage and troubleshooting: Provide technical guidance and expertise in the specific domain. Apply a cross-functional vehicle and system-level mindset to understand and help troubleshoot end-to-end system operation.
- Quality assurance & risk management: Drive warranty and other launch feedback into execution and partnered design teams. Ensure the highest standards of design excellence, quality, and reliability through evaluative testing and reviewing verification system results. Identify and mitigate technical risks and challenges associated with electrical systems, proactively addressing issues to ensure successful delivery.
- Continuous improvement & communication: Continuously evaluate the systems' performance and implement improvements to enhance functionality and efficiency. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise system design and deployment processes, tools, and methodologies, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness. Communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to leadership and stakeholders, providing regular updates and insights.
- Requirements Definition and Analysis: Review and analysing complex cross-functional systems and innovative solutions. Understand customer needs and the essential functionality of the feature in the early stages of its development cycle. Monitor, organise, and manage tasks related to the feature throughout its project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- 3 Years Experience in Electromechanical (Mechatronics) features, electrical systems and or functional knowledge in electrical module design, vehicle networking, electrical distribution system, mechanical systems, and vehicle diagnostics.
- 3 Years Experience Leading Teams: Excellent verbal and written communication is paramount for collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders, explaining complex ideas, identifying conflict and resolving issues proactively.
- 3 Years Experience Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: The ability to conduct detailed technical analysis, troubleshoot complex system issues, and develop creative solutions is a core requirement.
- 2 Years Project Management Skills: The ability to plan, implement, and oversee projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
- 2 Years Electrical Testing: Hands-on experience with various electrical testing methodologies, equipment, and troubleshooting techniques. This includes functional testing, validation testing, diagnostic testing, and performance analysis of electrical systems and components.
- 1 Year Experience in a Programming Language: Knowledge of languages like Python or C++, and troubleshooting.
