Description
Samsara is looking for a Sr. Firmware Engineer II to lead the development and deployment of next-generation intelligent safety features and video processing. The engineer will integrate high-performance camera systems and real-time edge computing into Samsara's fleet and industrial products.
Responsibilities:
- Influence a team of engineers on Video-Safety products, solving complex technical problems, guiding architectural decisions, improving quality, and owning key aspects of the tech stack.
- Assume ownership in maintaining production systems and provide operational support and supervision when necessary.
- Participate in roadmap planning sessions, collaborating with cross-functional peers to define key areas of the roadmap and technical direction.
- Ensure accuracy of AI algorithms on edge devices and work with Hardware, backend, and ML teams to define and build next-generation devices.
- Mentor other engineers on the team and champion Samsara's cultural principles.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in embedded software development, preferably with a focus on embedded Linux systems.
- Strong experience in programming with Golang, C/C++, Rust, or similar.
- Experience with media pipelines, multimedia frameworks, and deploying CV/ML models on edge devices.
- Proven experience defining and implementing scalable embedded software architecture.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have:
- Experience working on products from concept to mass production.
- Proficiency in gstreamer, Google MediaPipe, or similar edge AI/Media frameworks.
- Experience with data analysis using tools such as Databricks, SQL queries, Tableau.
- Experience with Edge Camera Systems, Video Capture, Video Encoding, Embedded AI.
Compensation:
- Annual base salary: $154,700 - $260,000 USD
