Principal Engineer

This role has been designed as 'Hybrid' with a requirement that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

As a Principal Engineer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, you will serve as a subject matter expert for HPE products in data center networking technologies. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Supporting customers with network design, troubleshooting, hardware and software testing, documentation, best practices, and automation
• Working with customers on Service Provider and Data Center architecture, design, deployment, and troubleshooting
• Troubleshooting complex production issues across QFX, EVPN-VXLAN, BGP, MPLS, SRv6, routing, switching, and Data Center fabrics
• Analyzing configurations, logs, traffic flows, and network behavior to identify root cause and provide corrective actions
• Providing technical guidance on Segment Routing, MPLS, spine-leaf architectures, EVPN-VXLAN, underlay/overlay networks, DCI, and network resiliency
• Collaborating with Juniper SE, Engineering, Product Management, and JTAC to resolve complex technical issues and drive customer requirements
• Validating designs, MOPs, software releases, and new features in lab environments before production deployment
• Supporting Data Center migrations, upgrades, fabric expansion, and implementation activities
• Conducting technical workshops and providing best-practice recommendations for network optimization and operational improvements
• Maintaining network design and operational documentation and providing proactive guidance on software, security, and lifecycle considerations
• Identifying opportunities for automation, standardization, and improved network performance/reliability

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 14+ years of relevant network experience, including Service Provider and large-scale Data Center environments
• Strong knowledge of MPLS, Segment routing, EVPN-VXLAN, and Data Center spine-leaf architectures
• Experience troubleshooting complex Data Center production networks and performing RCA
• Experience with Data Center migration, upgrades, and fabric deployments
• Knowledge of Data Center Interconnect (DCI) is highly desirable
