Data Science Intern

As a Data Science intern at PayPal, you will have an impact on PayPal's products worldwide and gain hands-on experience in data science.

This internship is designed to provide a talented and aspiring data scientist with real-world challenges and projects to sharpen their skills while contributing to data-driven initiatives.

You will work alongside experienced data scientists, engineers, and product teams to analyze data and uncover insights that inform business and customer decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, explain business performance, and develop actionable recommendations.
• Partner with product, engineering, and data teams to define success measures, improve data quality, and support reliable analytics.
• Design and evaluate analyses and experiments to inform product decisions and business priorities.
• Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leaders.
• Manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:

• Experience analyzing complex datasets and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker; Python or R experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of statistics, including hypothesis testing and regression, and familiarity with experimentation.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills; able to work through ambiguity and collaborate across teams.

Internship Program Requirements:

• This is a Summer 2027 Internship program.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field at an accredited college or university.
• Must be returning to school in Fall 2027.

Pay Range:

• San Jose, California: $32 - $55 Hourly
